The best candidates for body sculpting procedures are those who have realistic expectations of what the procedures can do. Body sculpting procedures can enhance your appearance and self confidence, but may not cause your looks to reach your ideal, or make others treat you differently. Ideal candidates are in good overall health, are close to normal weight, have firm, elastic skin, and have some excess pockets of fat in problem areas. All surgical procedures carry some level of inherent risk and should only be entered into after careful consideration and with appropriate expectations.

Tumescent Liposuction
With tumescent liposuction, a large amount of fluid (‘tumescent’) is injected into the area to be treated, helping to dissect the fat and making it easier to remove via suction. This fluid also contains medications which increase comfort and reduce the bleeding that can cause bruising. With the tumescent in place, a hollow tube (‘cannula’) is inserted and moved rapidly back and forth, continuously applying suction to remove fat cells.

Ultrasonic Liposuction
Ultrasonic-assisted liposuction involves a special cannula that has an ultrasound generator connected to it that vibrates at greater than 22,000 times per second. This ultrasonic vibration causes fat cells to rupture, and easier removal of the emulsified fat.
Abdominoplasty
An Abdominoplasty (or ‘tummy tuck’) is used to combat the excess abdominal skin or fat that develops over time, often as a result of large weight loss or pregnancy. Excess skin and/or fatty tissue is surgically removed in a 2-3 hour procedure usually performed under general anesthesia. Patients generally spend one to two nights in the recovery facility and activity is generally restricted for two to three weeks. Stitches are used, but are usually removed at 1-2 weeks.
