Candidates for Smart Lipo Laser Liposuction
Ideal candidates for Smartlipo laser liposuction treatment at our Scottsdale, AZ lipo center are within 25 lbs of their ideal body weight and are in otherwise good overall health. Good candidates should have realistic expectations, as the Smart Lipo procedure does not (at least alone) result in significant weight loss, but rather provides sculpting of problem areas. If larger weight loss is a primary patient goal, Dr. Shaw can suggest other (liposuction) procedures that may better match patient expectations.
Scottsdale Smartlipo Procedure and Recovery
Smartlipo uses two wavelengths and a very small (1mm) cannula to provide minimally invasive laser liposuction with very precise fat removal. The Smartlipo laser was the first with FDA approval for the dissolution and removal of fat during liposuction. The laser energy simultaneously dissolves fat cells (lipolysis) while coagulating blood vessels, allowing easier suction removal of this fat with less bleeding and trauma to interior connective tissues. Additionally, the Smartlipo laser wavelengths can stimulate collagen contraction at the skin surface that produces tissue tightening over the treated area both immediately and over the course of a few months. Because of the reduced bleeding and trauma, recovery from Smartlipo laser liposuction may be reduced to a couple of days versus the week long recovery that is typical of traditional liposuction.
